Standing on a steep hillside just below the handsome old church in the small agricultural village of La Guancha, this beautifully restored, 100-year old village house affords absolutely breathtaking views over fields and vineyards down to the coast. To enable guests to make the most of this panoramic outlook, the large garden that surrounds the house has been lovingly landscaped, creating several distinct areas in which to relax and unwind.
The house itself is divided into two self-contained dwellings. At one end is a cosy apartment for a couple, comprising a bedroom with twin beds and a small seating area, a separate kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave oven, and a shower room.
The main house is very spacious and comfortable, consisting of a large living-dining room with open fireplace and TV, a fitted kitchen (open plan to the lounge) equipped with hob, oven, microwave and fridge, a twin-bedded room with shower room on the ground floor plus a bedroom with double bed and bathroom on the upper floor. Many delightful original features of this very traditional Canarian house have been retained, and carefully chosen antique furnishings, ornaments and old photographs lend the interiors the warmth and character of a real family home.
The garden is shared between the two properties, but is large enough for both parties to enjoy their own space and privacy. There is a communal barbecue area, as well as a laundry room with a washing machine.
Situated between the cosmopolitan town of Puerto de la Cruz (15 km) and the unspoilt Isla Baja region in the north-western corner of the island, Casa Cho Juan is ideally placed for exploring northern Tenerife. The nearest beach is a 15-minute drive away, and the traditional local towns of Icod de los Vinos and Garachico with their selection of restaurants are a similar distance. The nearest local restaurant and basic shop, however, are just 300 metres from the property, so you can occasionally leave the car at home.
